The oyster. The oyster is a wholesome article of diet, often advised as analeptic and easy of digestion. The shells, Testae Ostreae, Testa (Ph. U.S.), (F.) ecailles d'huitres, have been received into the Pharmacopoeias, and used medicinally. Their virtues are similar to those of the carbonate of lime. See Creta.
