a Guard suggests that they should rouse the Lycians; at the end of the second the Leader definitely gives the word to do so.
The " Nibelungen" strophe
is presumably much older, and, having become popular in Austria through the poem, was adopted by Kurenberg for his purposes.
They sang their strophe
of Mameli's hymn, " Fratelli d'Italia," very badly.
