An American historical and religious writer; born in New Hampshire in 1808; died in 1890. He was a Methodist clergyman. Among his numerous works are: "Evangelism in the Middle of the 19th Century" (1851); "Women of the Bible" (1851); "Life of Cromwell" (1867); "The Earth and its Wonders" (1869); "Life Sketches of Macaulay" (1880).
