A Danish poet; born at Gudbrandsdal in Norway, 1756; died in the island of St. Thomas, W. I., 1821. He was editor of the periodical Minerva, at Copenhagen; wrote the romantic epic "Staerkodder" (1785), and two tragedies, "Damon and Pythias" and "Frode and Fingal".
