[French] An ancient tilting-block ;-an upright post on the top of which a cross post turned on a pivot, at one end of which was a broad board, and at the other a sand bag, and the play was to tilt on horseback with a lance against the broad end, and avoid being struck by the sand-bag, which was driven round to the tilter’s back.
