An illustrious Danish astronomer; born at Knudstrup, Dec. 24, 1546; died at Prague, Oct. 24, 1601. In "On the New Star" (1573) he treats of the star discovered by him in Cassiopeia. His other writings, most of which were published posthumously, include: "Astronomical Works"; "Mechanical Astronomy"; "Astronomical Letters".
