An English novelist; born (Frances Elizabeth Clarke) in Ireland. She married a British naval officer almost immediately upon leaving school, and has traveled widely. "The Heavenly Twins" made her famous. "Singularly Deluded" and "Ideala" are among her other works of fiction.
