A French dramatic and miscellaneous writer; born at Douai, 1817 (?). Early in life he entered the Post-Office service at Brest, but devoted all his leisure to literature, and was befriended by Emile Souvestre. He published: "Tableaux of Universal Literary History" (1844); "Memoirs of a King" (1851); etc. Among his efforts for the theatre, mostly written in collaboration with others, are: "The Twenty-Fourth of February" (1848); "Cousin Verdure" (1855); and "The Sundays of Pampette".
