An American poet and prose-writer; born in New London, Conn., Nov. 11, 1809; died Nov. 14, 1881. He published: "The American Village and Other Poems" (1845); "Out at Sea", poems (1867). His prose works include "The Child Hunters" (1867) and a series of biographies: "The Tanner Boy" (Grant); "Winfield the Lawyer's Son" (Hancock); and others.
