An American historian and religious writer, son of Robert Baird; born at Princeton, N. J., Aug. 28, 1828; died in Rye, N.Y., Feb. 10, 1881. Besides works on the Presbyterian liturgies (which he was the first to collect and investigate) and local histories, he wrote: "History of the Huguenot Emigration to America" (2 vols., 1885). It is interesting especially to the genealogist.
