[Latin] The mucous membrane covering the inner surface of the lids and the eyeball. It consists of the Palpebral c. attached to the lids; the Bulbar (or Ocular) c. covering the anterior surface of the eyeball as far as the cornea (where it terminates in a free edge, the Limbus of the c.); and the loose, flexible Retrotarsal fold connecting the two.
