A Danish novelist, dramatist, poet, and critic; born in Roholte, See land, July 2, 1857. He prepared for the ministry; but published a novel, "An Idealist", under the pseudonym "Epigonos", at 21. "Rodtjorn", a book of poems, appeared a few years later; followed by the novels "Romulus", "The Pupil of the Germans", and several others. "Brynhild" and "Saint Just" are tragedies; "The Book of my Love" is an assortment of erotic poems. As a critic his work is discriminating and accurate; but all his productions show the influence of foreign literatures.
