Large fusiform or pear-shaped nerve cells forming a layer, one cell deep, between the ectal and the nuclear layer of the cerebellar cortex. Each cell sends a slender axis cylinder process into the medullary layer, and a large process, which soon subdivides like the antlers of a deer, toward the surface of the cerebellum.
