A Danish poet; born in Selloe, Norway, Aug. 4, 1746; died in Dawigen, Norway, Oct. 16, 1829. He was a country clergyman. His descriptive poem "Hornelen" (1777) had merits; but the graceful pastoral lyrics which followed constitute him a poet of strongly individualized charm.
