An English journalist; born at Inverness, Scotland, Jan. 23, 1821; died in London, Nov. 25, 1856. His first production, "Labor and the Poor" (1848), was a very noted series of articles published in the London Morning Chronicle. He wrote: "The Comic Bradshaw; or, Bubbles from the Boiler" (1848); "Clement Lorimer; or, The Book with the Iron Clasp", a romance (1849); "Leonard Lindsay; or, The Story of a Buccaneer" (1850); "Claret and Olives" (1852); and many amusing miscellanies and farces.
