(1736-1803), of Providence, RI., a rich merchant, led the party which destroyed the " Gaspee " in 1772. He was a delegate from Rhode Island to Congress from 1799 to 1801.

(1744-1780), of Massachusetts, aided in the capture of Ticonderoga and took Fort Chambly in 1775. He served under Montgomery at Quebec. In 1777 he captured Ticonderoga together with large supplies.
