An Italian dramatist and poet; born in Florence, 1822. Of his numerous comedies (collected, Florence, 1875), "Peter the Workman" is considered the best. A fantastic drama, "Asmodeo" (1885), gave rise to lively literary discussions on its first performance in 1887.
