[Gr.] (Zool.) Canis pictus, Fennec, Megalotis, hunting dog, reddish brown patched with black and white; connects hyaenas and dogs, having the feet of the former (four toes on each foot), the teeth and bones of the latter. It hunts in packs. S. Africa. Gen. Lycaon, fam. Canidae, ord Carnivora.
