A Swedish novelist; born at Stromstad, Aug. 8, 1807; died at Stockholm, Feb. 5, 1892. Her first story was "Waldemar Klein" (1838). A long series of novels followed, most notable among them being: "Gustav Lindorm" (1839); "The Professor" (1840); "Chamberlain Lassmann" (1842); "A Warehouse on the Cliffs" (1860), her best story. Her latest work was "Reminiscences of Swedish Literary Life" (1878). She had clear insight into the conditions of human life, especially of life in the middle class, and she describes it with admirable fidelity.
